I was in the food/ fast food/ casual dinning for more than 30 years. Thinking about spending some money for a better retirement! I found an opportunity in Ontario Canada. I talked to the owner – store sold for family/ personal reason. Contacted Q HO at Oakville, Senior Profolio Manager reply ‘contact the seller for info!’ If I can take all numbers from the owner – why am I seeing ‘For Sale’. I worked in McD for 15+ years at Mid-Management. I have to wait in line, even I worked with the Nation Franchising Director!! The Q in Canada is asking for 130K and the owner claimed he is making 50K per year plus his pay?? How much he is doing?? He claimed 32% food cost, 23% rent, 7% loyalty, 11% rent, 4% advertising, banking fee+insurance+payroll tax+benefits+ what’s left?? From my experience he must be doing 12K per week to break even AND with the atitude from the HO, I believed it is finding yourself a low pay labor job. Good luck.

But I see a lot of little crepe chains all accross the US (3-5 restaurant each) ( more than the few that you mentionned ). I don’t understand why we don’t see a nationwide chain emreging, what ‘s your point of view ?

No, this franchiser is still churning like there is no end in sight. It still amazes me how many troubled zees I hear about. It’s a sad and pathetic reflection on how impotent and powerless the federal trade commission is to regulate crime of this nature.

JJ delivery drivers earn $6.75/hr to $8/hr + tip, which typically nets out to $10 to $25 per hour including tips…depending on the market and what franchisees feel is the right hourly wage. Sometimes they are also paid gas/maintenance reimbursement. Again, it all depends on what compensation is needed to attract the ideal flexible driver – college kids, etc.

Job Description & Responsibilities:::::::::::
Drivers are expected to check orders for accuracy and deliver products to customers in a safe courteous and timely manner.

Drivers will also work as an In-Shopper when no deliveries are scheduled.

Duties include:

Take phone orders and complete delivery tickets
Accept payment for delivery orders and reconcile cash collected for deliveries
Make fast accurate and consistent sandwiches
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the restaurant
Greet customers on entry and exit
Operate cash register collect payment and make change
Perform other related duties as required

Drivers must be able to speak read and write the English language fluently and clearly

Drivers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license and automobile insurance and reliable transportation

Drivers must have a clean driving record

Auto insurance must not exclude delivery driving from coverage

Collision coverage is required

I”ve read a lot of excellent franchise blog posts and have never seen this point raised before.

This is such a great issue for both franchisees and prospective franchisees. For franchisees, it”s a reminder to always be informed on what projects could affect you. Even if you can”t relocate, you can prepare yourself by putting money aside for business disruptions or purchasing business interruption insurance.

For prospects, awareness of major development could save you some serious headaches.
